Uttarkashi Uttarakhand 1987 Earthquake reconstruction, landslides and survivor recollection of the incident: "Survivors were starving for food, not for treatment. Everybody was depressed. They had no interest in life. No relief reached here for seven days, from the government. They were starving. They did not care to eat due to the earthquake and the casualties they saw. In Netala, the source of water changed afterthe earthquake. For 2-3 months, there was no fresh water. The Ganga is approximately 2 kilometers from the village up a vertical walk. The population is 1500 people. There is no count of how many animals died. A single person was carrying a single dead body. Every family had some casualties. Some were injured. Some were dead. Dead bodies were being eaten by vultures and childrens
