The big temblor is perhaps yet to hit the Himalaya, but the infamous Uttarkashi earthquake is still remembered as one of the worst we have had in the mountains... A man talks about the Earthquake that occurred in Uttarkashi on 20th October 1991, he says, We came here after one and a half month of earthquake, the earthquake was occurred on 20th October 1991 and we came here around 5th of December. The situation was sensitive in the whole country just after the Earthquake. Our organisation also felt that we had to do something for the relief. CAPART also approached us, The deputy General Director of CAPART Mr. Lalit Mathur visited Saharanpur and offered us to do relief work in Uttarkashi we immediately came here after his visit, we met district administration and observed the whole scenario
