A flock of White-throated Laughingthrushes (Pterorhinus albogularis) forages on the ground among dry grass and low shrubs in the Himalayan foothills. The birds are easy to recognise by their bright white throats, olive-brown upperparts, rich chestnut-orange bellies and long, dark tails, and some show a vivid blue eye ring. They are social birds that move in noisy groups, hopping over leaf litter and turning over debris in search of insects, seeds and berries.
