Thousands of Koonj or Demoiselle cranes (Anthropoides virgo) making their migratory landing at a water hole in Khichan, Rajasthan. Khichan Villagers welcome Demoiselle cranes are migratory and fly in flocks of thousands and are known to be named by Queen Marie Antoinette for its delicate appearance. Some are basking in the dry arid ground. They are migratory in nature and migrate in thousands to India during the winter. In northern Indian culture, often it is called Koonj and compared to dainty women.
