This cow rubbing its horns against a road-side culvert embankment is oblivious to the geology oozing out of its immediate environment! Ancient under-sea sand layers (now turned to Himalayan bed-rock!) are exposed in this Himalayan road-side cross-section which has been thrown up in recent road building work. A fabulous geological workshop that suddenly cropped up due to unfortunate road building activity leads to a serendipitous discovery for the science of geology! What serendipity in the discovery of this cross section of Himalayan bedrock throwing up 50 million years of geology, and the fold and uplift of the Himalaya.
