Rose-ringed Parakeets are common in Indian gardens and park in urban areas. They are colourful but blend in with the greenery around them. They come and raid orchards and gardens in large packs, flying off at short notice when sending danger. They can empty out a fruit tree or a sunflower patch in hours, much akin to locusts, thus causing huge damage to orchardists and gardeners alike. Their green colouration lends them perfect camouflage, as well! This little parakeet here at the Wilderness Orchard invades the most lush flower and eats mostly fresh sunflowers and seeding ones.
