A close-up view of the Rufous Treepie (Dendrocitta vagabunda) perched on a tree branch captures a rare and intimate behavioural moment. Known for its active and vocal nature, this intelligent member of the Corvidae family is often seen hopping energetically through woodland canopies. However, in this calm frame, the bird appears relaxed, slowly lowering its eyelids as if drifting toward rest. The soft rufous-brown body contrasts with its glossy black head and throat, while the bluish-grey wings and long graduated tail remain still against the muted background. The slightly curved black bill and pale eyes are distinctive features of Dendrocitta vagabunda, but here the half-closed eye conveys a sense of tranquillity rarely associated with this usually alert species.
