It's the peak of the langda and dussehri mango harvest in July 2021, at a mango orchard around Meerut in Uttar Pradesh state. Farm hands pull huge plastic baskets of kutcha aam which will then be transported to the mandi and sold. By the time they get into the hands of consumers, the mangos would have turned ripe and be perfect to eat! Langda has the maximum amount of acidity in it and these acids ripen the mangoes even when off the tree. Come to think of it, most fruit is picked from the tree in an unripe state so that it ripens during the course of transport to the consumer!
