A colony of Indian flying fox, also known as the greater Indian fruit bat, roosts on the bare branches of a tall tree in Central India. The Indian flying fox can be seen hanging upside down from the branches, which is their typical daytime resting behavior while they remain inactive until dusk. Several individuals are clustered together, gripping the branches with their strong claws while their dark, leathery wings are wrapped around their bodies like cloaks. Some bats slightly unfold their wings, revealing their impressive wingspan and distinctive golden-brown or rufous-colored fur around the neck and shoulders. Their fox-like faces and large eyes are characteristic features of fruit bats, adapted for nocturnal feeding. Colonies of Indian flying foxes often roost in large trees near water
