On a cool and cloudy monsoon day, the Tungnath trek—home to the highest Shiva temple in the world—comes alive with a mix of determination, devotion, and raw Himalayan beauty. The stone-paved trail winds steadily upward through lush green slopes, made even more dramatic by drifting fog and light drizzles typical of the season. Along this scenic ascent, we see many pilgrims and trekkers struggling against the steep gradient, pausing to catch their breath as they navigate the narrow, time-worn steps. Sharing the same path are donkeys Equus asinus, patiently carrying pilgrims, elderly travellers, and occasionally young couples who choose the ride to make the demanding climb easier.
