The male Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus), commonly known as the Indian Peacock, is one of the most striking and recognizable birds in the world. It is famous for its brilliant iridescent blue neck and chest, metallic green upper feathers, and its spectacular long ornamental tail feathers, called the train. These elongated feathers are decorated with distinctive eye-like patterns (ocelli) that shimmer in shades of blue, green, and gold. During the breeding season, the male peacock spreads its magnificent train into a large fan and performs a courtship display, shaking the feathers to attract nearby females (peahens).
