A rare and exciting wildlife sighting unfolded near Kartik Swami Mandir and the forested trails of Tungnath–Chopta, where a Yellow-throated Marten (Martes flavigula), also known as the Himalayan marten, was observed moving swiftly through the dense Himalayan woodland. Known for its striking golden-yellow throat patch and dark, sleek body, this agile carnivore stands out vividly against the green mountain landscape. Native to the Himalayan region, the species thrives in temperate and sub-alpine forests between 1,500 to 4,000 meters. Unlike many other martens, the Yellow-throated Marten is primarily diurnal and highly active, often seen foraging on the forest floor or leaping between trees.
