Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) observed foraging along a sandy coastal shoreline in the United Arab Emirates. Two Common Sandpipers actively walking and feeding near the water’s edge in a coastal habitat. The birds display characteristic brown upperparts contrasted with clean white underparts, along with their typical restless feeding behaviour as they search for insects and small aquatic prey. Common Sandpipers are migratory shorebirds frequently seen across the UAE during migration and winter seasons. Coastal mudflats, beaches, lagoons, and estuaries along the Arabian Gulf provide important feeding and resting habitats for these small wading birds during their long migratory journeys across the Palearctic region.
