Imagine the back-breaking effort (those bags weigh 50 kilograms each!) and cost for these poor villagers to share their precious food-stocks with visiting birds from across the Himalaya! Such is the hospitality of Indians in rural areas that they will go to any extent to look after and please a visitor such as a crane (or a human!). A local man of Kichan Village in Rajasthan carrying a sack full of grains and spreading it out in the fields as food supply for migratory Demoiselle Cranes. The demoiselle crane (Anthropoides virgo) is a species of crane found in central Eurasia, ranging from the Black Sea to Mongolia and North Eastern China.
