What a bumper tomato crop this year, in Uttarakhand's Nainbagh-Ghorakhuri fruit and vegetable belt, close to the Yamuna river, and well irrigated by the monsoons and forest springs that get channeled down to the village fields. The tomato vines have been nicely staked up with wooden sticks, to prevent rotting and to give them a longer growing length. Tamatar is not just a necessity in the Indian kitchen now.
