Mahanadi River near Cuttack, Odisha, captured during the dry season in January 2023. One of India's major river systems, the Mahanadi is renowned for its vast riverbed and significant sediment deposition, creating an ever-changing landscape of sandbars and water channels. The river's characteristic wide sandy expanse, where large sandbanks emerge prominently above the water level. Shallow, calm channels weave through the sandy terrain, forming intricate patterns across the riverbed. These features are especially visible during the winter and dry months when water levels recede, exposing extensive stretches of deposited silt and sand. In the distance, patches of vegetation line the riverbanks, while low hills associated with the Eastern Ghats provide a scenic backdrop. The tranquil setting
