Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is also referred as the 'heaven on earth', is battling its worst floods in 6 decades. PWD begins flood relief works in Jammu. Due to unstable conditions at the Tawi bridge and it’s adjoining bridges, all the bridges have been closed. In September 2014, the Jammu & Kashmir region was hit by heavy floods caused by torrential rainfall. The regions of Jammu and Kashmir in India, as well as Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab in Pakistan, were affected by these floods.[5] By September 7 2014, nearly 200 people in India and 280 people in Pakistan had died due to the floods.
