The floods that engulfed the state of Jammu and Kashmir have been unprecedented in its history. PWD starts clearing roads to normalise vehicular traffic after flood in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, India. In September 2014, the Jammu & Kashmir region was hit by heavy floods caused by torrential rainfall. The regions of Jammu and Kashmir in India, as well as Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab in Pakistan, were affected by these floods.[5] By September 7 2014, nearly 200 people in India and 280 people in Pakistan had died due to the floods. According to the Home Ministry of India, several thousand villages across the state had been hit and 350 villages had been submerged.
