The spiny tail of this Indian reptile while it basks in the sandy banks inside the Kukrail Reserve Forest in Uttar Pradesh. Closeups of the skin covering the Gharial. Get a close view of the Gharial's eyes, the jaw, the sharp interdigitated teeth as it opens its long jaws. They are found in the sandy freshwater streams of the Gangetic plains and are the only fish eating species of crocodiles. Kukarail reserve Forest is a rehabilitation and breeding centre for Gharials and turtles.
