Gangasagar Mela held on Sagar Island during Makar Sankranti 2024. Vibrant nighttime atmosphere of Gangasagar Mela 2024, one of India’s largest religious gatherings, where millions of devotees travel to the sacred confluence of the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal for a ritual holy dip. Large illuminated arches and entrance gates marked “Gangasagar Mela 2024” and “P.H.E.D. Govt of W.B.” are visible throughout the decorated fairgrounds. Crowds of pilgrims dressed in winter clothing walk through brightly lit streets lined with temporary stalls, roadside shops, and administrative structures set up for the mela.
