In 55 degrees Celcius temperature in the sun, out in the open, in the Indian summer, this brave female Red-wattled Lapwing or titeeri / titehri bird, a species of plover, sits out to incubate her clutch of eggs laid on the ground. But instead of incubating or warming her eggs like other birds do, this bird actually cools and humidifies them to aid in the cooling process. She finds a rare patch of water to moisten her belly feathers and then comes and sits atop the eggs. What dedication. Truly a mother's day poster girl this bird!
