Several large hornets from the genus Vespa gathered on the ground and feeding on a piece of animal carrion. The insects display the characteristic features of large Asian hornets, including orange-toned heads, dark thoraxes, and boldly banded yellow-and-black abdomens. As social wasps, hornets play an important ecological role as both predators and scavengers within forest and rural ecosystems.
