An Ibisbill (Ibidorhyncha struthersii) standing in a shallow rocky riverbed in Ladakh, India. The bird is identifiable by its long downward-curved red bill, grey plumage, black facial markings, and a distinct black breast band across the white underparts. Ibisbills inhabit fast-flowing Himalayan rivers and are specially adapted to shingle and gravel riverbanks at high altitudes. Their grey coloration provides effective camouflage among rounded stones and riverbed sediments. The species is the sole member of the family Ibidorhynchidae and is closely associated with cold mountain river ecosystems across the Himalayas and Central Asia. The footage documents a specialized wading bird within its natural Himalayan habitat.
