A Common Wall butterfly (Lasiommata schakra) and Common Tortoiseshell feeding on nectar from a bright red wild Dahlia flower in the Jabbarkhet area of Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India. This species belongs to the Nymphalidae family and is commonly found in Himalayan and other mountainous habitats across South Asia. The butterfly displays warm brown wings marked with distinctive eye-spots that may help deter predators. Dahlias provide a nectar source for a variety of pollinating insects in garden and natural landscapes. The surrounding environment reflects the montane ecosystem of the lower Himalayas. The video shows the butterfly actively feeding while perched on the flower.
