The village of Mukhba has a temple which is special for it is here that the Gangotri temple's idol is brought for the winter months when Gangotri itself becomes difficult of access. Trekkers pitch tents to set up a camp above Dharali village over-looking the village of Mukhba below with this winter-time abode of the Gangotri idol's temple clearly visible. In early winter, snow and sleet start off in the evening.
