In cold late winter rain, this rare male Koklass Pheasant has found itself this overhang with moss, where he chooses to hide. But the location is not very effective, and the feathers of the bird get wet. There is melted snow nearby, as well. What a fabulous rare view of the secretive and shy Koklass Pheasant of the middle Himalaya! The female is a drab brown while the male has a fabulous crest and is a tad more colourful. Tough to see and more difficult yet to film, wildfilmsindia protects a small population of these pheasants at our wildlife sanctuary at Jabbarkhet near Mussoorie.
