The Okhla Barrage spans the Yamuna River in New Delhi. The multi-gated barrage releases water through open sections, creating turbulent flow and white water downstream. Thick patches of white foam are visible on the river surface, associated with untreated domestic sewage and industrial effluents containing surfactants and phosphates. A multi-lane road bridge supported by concrete pillars crosses the river above this section. Light haze is present in the sky, consistent with urban atmospheric conditions.
