Yamunotri, the temple dedicated to the origin of the Yamuna river is one of the four holiest Hindu sites in Uttarakhand - the Char Dham. Vehicles drive slowly in this mountainous terrain. There are many pit stops along the way where one can have a meal or snacks along with a hot cup of desi chai. Hanuman Chatti was the road head at around 13 kilometers distance from the temple at the the time when this film was made (now it is Jankichatti from where one needs to walk approximately 6 kms.). From the road head, the pilgrims can either go on mule-back, in a palanquin or palki or choose to walk the distance to the temple. Some pilgrims can be seen preparing meals to eat and to carry for the trek up to Yamunotri temple. The pilgrim route passes through Ranichatti and Phoolchatti before reaching
