The spider in the image is a female Joro spider (Trichonephila clavata), a large, visually striking orb-weaver native to East Asia. It is known for its vibrant yellow, black/blue, and red coloration, as seen in the photograph. Spider Identification Feature Description Common Name: Joro spider (from Japanese jorō-gumo, meaning "entangling or binding bride") Scientific Name: Trichonephila clavata Appearance: Adult females have a large, cylindrical abdomen with distinctive yellow and bluish-gray stripes on top, and an intricate yellow, blue-black, and red pattern on the underside. They have long, black legs with prominent yellow bands. Size: Females can have a body length of up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) and a leg span of up to 4 inches (10 cm).
