A group of trekkers makes its way through the spectacular wilderness of Harsil Valley, deep within the Garhwal Himalayas. Carrying large backpacks and expedition gear, the hikers traverse a field of golden-brown alpine grass as the trail steadily climbs toward the rugged mountains beyond. The landscape showcases a dramatic transition from lush Himalayan bugyals (alpine meadows) to steep scree slopes and rocky high-altitude terrain, typical of the remote regions surrounding Gangotri. The route passes through pristine mountain ecosystems where hardy alpine vegetation gives way to exposed rock and glacially shaped slopes.
