What a sight! What an absolutely fabulous sight of wild birds coming together in such numbers to escape the harsher climes up north, in warmer balmier wintery India. As they take off, they create not just a sight but also quite a sound! These first year juvenile Demoiselle Cranes have accompanied their adult crane parents on their first winter migration across the Himalaya, to come to winter in north India, at Khichan Village in Rajasthan. The juveniles bear a grey neck with modest feathers, as opposed to the black neck with prominent white streaming feathers across the cheeks. Huge flocks of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) are seen swirling in the blue skies of Kheechan Village in Rajasthan. This is the migratory trip they take in the winters visiting this village in North India. H
