A black scorpion, likely an Asian Forest Scorpion (Heterometrus) or an Emperor Scorpion (Pandinus imperator), sits still on a cemented surface, its claws slightly open and tail gently curved in a defensive posture. Scorpions are nocturnal hunters, feeding on insects, small arthropods, and sometimes tiny vertebrates. Their nature is shy but defensive, striking only when threatened. Asian Forest Scorpions are commonly found across India, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, while Emperor Scorpions occur mainly in West and Central Africa. Despite their intimidating look, they are generally calm and prefer hiding under rocks, logs, or leaf litter.
