A White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus), locally known as the Jal Murgi, carefully incubates its eggs within a concealed nest at the Wilderness Orchard wetlands in New Delhi, India. Surrounded by a dense cover of vibrant water hyacinths, marsh vegetation, and reeds, the bird remains alert while protecting its clutch. The White-breasted Waterhen is easily recognised by its striking white face, throat, and breast, which contrast beautifully with its dark slate-grey body and chestnut undertail.
