This is the real Wild Dog of India - they hunt in packs and can bring down a large deer! The Dhole (Cuon alpinus) is a species of canid native to Southeast Asia. The dhole is highly social animal, living in large clans which occasionally split up into small packs to hunt. Dhole is found in Assam, Bengal, Gujrat, Kashmir, Tamil nadu, and North western parts of India. Dhole usually prefers dense forests, thick shrub forests and mountain regions to live. They keep in packs, hunt in packs and have a very well organized social life. Their larger packs may occasionally even take on large carnivores like the tiger or leopard and force them to leave the site.
