If you look attentively you will see how Annapurna South looks like a pyramid which extends to another beautiful peak called the Hiunchuli. Annapurna South along with Hiunchuli forms a south-facing wall overlooking the Modi Khola river and guarding the Annapurna sanctuary at the same time. Annapurna South is one of the most impressive peaks of the Annapurna Range. It towers more than 5000 m above the valley of the Modi Khola and blocks the view to the 8091 m high Annapurna I. Its north-eastern slopes are impressively high above the Annapurna Sanctuary, a popular trekking destination.
