Makarand Deshpande recalls his first performance at Prithvi Theatre in 1990, in Mumbai

Makarand Deshpande: “I first performed at Prithvi Theatre in 1990, and I have been here ever since. For 16 or 17 years of my life, I progressed from being an actor to becoming a writer, director, and producer. More than 30 plays have been staged here over the years, and there was always a photograph of Prithviraj Kapoor Ji upstairs. Sometimes, when I looked at that photograph, I would stand on my knees because, for me, he was like a warrior. Today, we have reached the day when we are celebrating 100 years since his birth. Theatre has been a phase of my life, and that happened because of Prithvi Theatre."
