The scenic landscape of Nainital, one of Uttarakhand's best-known hill stations in the Kumaon Himalayas. The crescent-shaped Naini Lake stretches through the centre of the town as low mountain fog gradually drifts across the surrounding hillsides. Colourful houses, hotels, and colonial-era buildings are closely arranged on the steep slopes of Ayarpatta and Sher-ka-Danda hills, backed by dense Himalayan forests. On the lake, traditional wooden rowing boats carrying tourists move peacefully across the calm water. The wide-angle views document the distinctive combination of mountain scenery, lakeside settlement, forested slopes, and everyday tourism that characterises Nainital.
