This bird actually lifts stones and flings them forward and flicks oak leaves over its head, all in search of insects and worms for breakfast! Better a forked tail than a forked tongue... What a stunning black and white bird the Spotted Forktail is, as it frequents small Himalayan streams. Spotted Forktail literally has an elegant tail with two diverging tail streaming feathers, lives by water Spotted Forktails splash around and have a watery ball in the Bindal-Rispana stream between Mussoorie and Dehradun, in summer-time and during their breeding season. Wetting bunches of moss, they carry them back to line their nests with.
