A traditional community gathering in Baaling village, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, where a man ties a white turban around another person's head. The turban is locally known as benthulo and is tied for the annual Syang Sye pooja. This pooja takes place in July every year, and is done by the people of Dugtu, in Baaling (Baling) village. Several children are present, sitting nearby and watching the process. Other community members can also be seen standing and observing, creating a shared social setting. A grassy area surrounded by trees and reflects a local tradition of turban tying within the village community.
