The historic Tabo Monastery is seen surrounded by the rugged desert mountains of the trans-Himalayan region. The monastery complex features traditional two-storey mud-brick and clay-plastered buildings with flat roofs, wooden-framed windows, and thick earthen walls characteristic of Tibetan Buddhist architecture in Spiti Valley. A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor of one structure, while a paved stone pathway passes through the open courtyard filled with blooming yellow sunflowers. Colourful Tibetan prayer flags stretch across the courtyard between the monastery buildings, adding movement and colour to the landscape.
