New roads are being built at a frenetic pace, across the western Himalaya, especially in the state of Uttarakhand. This new road has gouged out entire chunks of the hills, thrown malba and rocks down the forest, ruined the undergrowth and done so much more damage, even apart from the access that it will provide to poachers, tourists, outsiders, developers and worse... Why can we not develop roads responsibly or else not make them at all? Let people walk for a change! Other such roads are being built for pilgrims to access the Char Dham religious locations at the sources of the Ganges, causing MUCH worse ecological high altitude Himalayan environmental damage! This road heads from Kaplani-Masrana towards Kumui and Kolti villages in the Mussoorie belt and was likely built as part of the Prad
