Redbreast butterfly mud puddling in Siro, Arunachal Pradesh. These butterflies are fairly common, are approx. 110-130 mm. large and are scientifically known as Princeps alcmenor. This butterfly can be mistaken for a Great Mormon in flight. Visits various species of flowers and also moist earth and salt patches. Very rare and spectacular species of butterflies can be spotted in the even more spectacular Ziro valley. It is here that the extremely rare Bhutan Glory was spotted in Talley Valley reserve, some 40 odd kms away from the main valley. This huge butterfly was seen in a Bison salt lick near a stream in Siro Village. Ziro is situated in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, 167 kms from the capital Itanagar. It can be reached via road from Guwahati or Dibrugarh towns in Assam.
