The red colour of the water reflects the predominantly red soil in the region. Flood waters start emerging from the fields, along roads and around villages, coming from directions and going in trajectories water was never known to flow in. Roads are cut in two by the fierce flow and peoples' lives are thrown into disarray. As the low pressure moved upwards from Tamil Nadu, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema received heavy rains. Normal life was disrupted and streets filled with water as the north-east monsoon was especially fierce over Rayalaseema. A report in The Hindu states that meteorological authorities said that Sullurpeta in Nellore received 26 cm rainfall, Tada 25 cm, Venkatagiri 17 cm, Gudur 16cm, Atmakur 16cm, Kavali 11 cm, Nellore 11 cm, Avanigadda in Krishna recorded
