Scaly-breasted Munia nibbles bajra or millet seeds with its strong, grey conical bill, at the wildfilmsindia botanical arboretum in New Delhi. A Scaly-breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata) feeding on a green ear of millet. The small bird has a chestnut-brown head and back, a short, thick grey bill, and distinctive black-and-white scale-like markings across its chest and belly. It clings to the seed head and picks out individual grains, with a small piece of millet visible at the tip of its bill. In the final shot, the munia perches on a green stem facing the camera, still holding a seed in its beak. Scaly-breasted munias commonly feed on grass seeds and grains, often gathering in small flocks around fields and gardens.
