Our peony blooms attain a giant size, thanks to the Himalayan shunshine and Bindal stream and spring waters. And just the right soft marshmallow bud consistency before they burst into gloriously large blooms! Peony buds begin to appear at the Himalayan Peony farm as part of the Wilderness Orchard and botanical gardens of wildfilmsindia in Mussoorie, in Uttarakhand. It's spring-time and April is when the buds begin to appear, in time for end April and early May flowering. Lady birds / ladybugs seem to enjoy sitting on the mature buds, perhaps for the sap they contain?
