A hitherto untouched side of Ladakh, nestled in the Karakoram range, lies a village by the name of Turtuk. A tiny farming village nestled between snow-topped mountains in India’s far northwestern region of Ladakh. Kids of Turtuk playing in the crop fields and being a farming village it is surrounded by croplands from all sides while being cradled by the Karakoram range of mountains. What is even more interesting about the border tales of Turtuk is the fact that Baltistan was once an independent kingdom. You can pore over remains and artefacts from those days in the museum here, which once was the summer home to the royals of Turkistan.
