In Turtuk Village, women are engaged in traditional harvesting practices. Using sickles, they cut crops such as wheat and barley and lay them out in the fields to dry. Once dried, the soil is beaten off the roots with sticks, and the bundles are collected for threshing. Historically, this work was done manually through community participation, with villagers helping each other during harvest season. In some cases today, diesel-powered machines assist with threshing and winnowing. The scene reflects agricultural traditions adapted to high-altitude conditions in Ladakh. The footage captures manual labour, crop handling, and rural livelihood practices.
