These women are entering into a religious trance phase, thanks to the drumming and the festive atmosphere in the village. They jump with their arms in the air, and lose control of their immediate surroundings and reality. Such is the festive fervour mid-winter in the Garhwal Himalayan region, during this festival around Uttarkashi.
