Filmed by Chewang Bonpo, this is the rare Bengal Florican as seen in the Mishmi hills of Arunachal Pradesh in India. With a number of warblers and Black Partridge calling in the background, this is prime grassland habitat in north-east India. This rare bird was filmed by our consultant ornithologist Chewang Bonpo who runs the fine birding and home stay property at Bon Farmhouse in Kewzing Village, West Sikkim. Make a visit, folks! This bustard has a very small, declining population; a trend that has recently become extremely rapid and is predicted to continue in the near future, largely as a result of the widespread and on-going conversion of its grassland habitat for agriculture.
