Two Terrestrial Land snails resting on a large dry leaf on the forest floor of Wilderness Orchard, New Delhi, India. Help us identify this species of snails! Their spiral shells and soft bodies are visible as they move slowly across the leaf surface. Land snails are ground-dwelling gastropod mollusks that thrive in moist microhabitats among leaf litter, fallen branches, and vegetation. They play an important ecological role by feeding on decaying plant material and contributing to nutrient recycling within the ecosystem. The dry leaf provides shelter and a stable surface within the orchard environment.
